Our vision

In today’s world the need for inter-faith understanding and mutual respect has never been greater. We believe that it is important to recognize the common grounds shared between religions whilst mutually respecting, valuing and learning about the diversity of our beliefs.

Who we are

The ‘Bedford Council of Faiths’ is an organisation that brings together different faith groups in order to build bridges and engage in activities that strengthen relations and foster friendships between individuals, helping to dispel ignorance and prejudice.

Our trustees from local faith

communities are elected on an annual basis. Our members consist of both individual and associate  (organisational) supporters.

We have been established for over

thirty years, attaining charitable status in July 2004.

Our aims

Our aims are to promote religious harmony, 

dispel ignorance and prejudice about beliefs,

foster religious understanding and mutual respect and encourage friendships across religious boundaries.

This is achieved through:

educating and raising awareness of sensitivities within all faiths in our increasingly diverse

society • advising individuals, organisations, local government bodies and businesses on matters of religious faith • promoting shared action

on social issues • acting as a public voice

on matters of religious faith

BCoF collects data that you provide in the course of its usual operations. For example:

 

  • By you filling in the BCoF Contact Form on the BCoF website.

  • When you book an event run by us or in partnership with another organisation.

  • When you become a member of BCoF.

 

The personal date collected will include details such as name, postal address, email address, telephone number(s) and sensitive data (ie faith) will be collected specifically for the purposes of providing information and/or a service to meet a specific interest or need. This is collected under the Consent and Legitimate Interest categories of the GDPR Regulations.

Information

BCoF will send out emailed information about events, reports, details of briefings and guides, relevant campaigns and consultations.

 

Storing and Protecting your data

  • Access to your data is strictly controlled and protected both through electronic security measures and safe hard copy storage.

  • Your data will not be shared with a third party.

  • Your data will be stored and refreshed after 3/5 years.
