Dear Friends and Colleagues
Multi Faith Civic Service - 3.OOpm, Sunday 10 April 2005
As we approach the end of the civic year, I would like to invite you
to a special event that it has been my pleasure to arrange as Speaker
of the Council. A multi faith civic service on the theme of `peace'
is being held at Biddenham Upper School, Biddenham Turn, Bedford at
3.OOpm on Sunday 10 April. Members of Bedford Council of Faiths and
the Reverend Jay Macleod, Interfaith Advisor to the Bishop of St Albans,
have kindly worked to produce an inclusive service at which members
of the ten main faith groups represented in Bedford's multi-cultural
community will contribute elements from their faiths and cultures. I
hope very much that a wide range of people from the borough's community
will join us at this service and take the opportunity to meet each other
afterwards over some refreshments.
I would therefore like to formally invite you and your spouse or guest
to attend this service. It you are able to attend, would you please
complete and return the reply slip, so that seating can be reserved
for you in the main hall. I would be grateful if you could send your
reply by Tuesday 5 April at the latest.
Car parking is available at the school. The service will last about
an hour with time afterwards for refreshments. The Mayor's Office staff
and members of Bedford Council of Faiths will be on hand to meet you.
You are requested to take your seat in the hall when you arrive. (Please
note that you need to be seated no later than 2.55 p.m.)
I look forward to hearing from you.
Yours sincerely
Councillor
