• Faith Walks, where people from various faiths collectively visit a number of local religious establishments, symbolically linking these by walking from one to another in a gesture of friendship and support.

  • Outings. We went to the Beth Shalom, Holocaust Centre near Nottingham in 2003, Amaravati Buddhist Monastery near Hemel Hempstead in 2004, ate with the monks and attended a meditation workshop. In 2005 we visited the Norse Road Crematorium and Cemetery to learn about its operation, followed by a workshop on mourning rites in the various religious traditions.

  • Public Talks in recent years have included challenging topical issues of interest to the wider community, where any one can come to learn about other faiths and contribute to the host of questions and observations.

  • We assisted in the organising and planning of an inclusive multi-faith Civic Service which was requested by the Mayor's office in April 2005 and held at Biddenham Upper School:

In the 2001 National Census 31% of Bedford's population did not state Christianity as their faith. Bedford Council of Faiths believes that this needs to be taken into account by practising inclusiveness at such civic celebrations and has already made its voice heard in this regard.

  • We also offer Diversity© an Interfaith, non-competitive board game, which enables players to learn basic information about the faiths now being practised in the UK. We play Diversity©, give faith talks and advise organisations (statutory/non-statutory or school) who wish to educate its members, or staff in the sensitivities of multi-faith issues. (more)

  • Design advice of a multifaith building by the Bedford Borough and Mid Bedfordshire District Councils, regarding the development of the new Wixams estate to the south of Bedford.
